Basic knowledge of the epoch of early modern and modern colonialism as well as the discussions on methodological and theoretical questions of global history
The lecture deals with the history of Europe's expansion into America, Asia, Africa and Australia and the repercussions of this process on Europe in early modern and modern times. Problems of building Empires, colonial relations with indigenous empires and peoples as well as the role of trade relations are the focus of lecture, work with written and visual sources and readings.
Lectures with a possibility to pose questions and discussions; Guest presentations from experts; discussion of certain readings.
A written exam administered online at the end of the semester.
