Acquisition of skills for dealing with historic sources and studies critically, as well as the competence to present the newly-gained knowledge verbally and/or in writing; Acquisition of the competence to apply methods of auxiliary sciences.

In this tutorial students will intensify their knowledge on types of sources from the early modern and modern period by delving into different questions under inclusion of specialist literature with selected examples.

Overview on the types of sources of the early modern period and the 19th century and their specific informations for historical research. Administrative and court records, ego- documents, letters and literary texts of various forms will be dealt with. We will always be concerned with the question of which possibilities of interpretation these types offer and which limitations of their informative value should be considered.

Short presentations by students, discussions, written exercises und teacher-centred teaching.
