Processing and contextualisation of research literature and sources according to subject-specific standards; skills in writing a bachelor thesis; presentation of the newly acquired knowledge.

Overthrowing monuments in conflicts, ongoing debates about renaming streets and places in towns and the discussion of possible interventions at existing monuments or street signs - this symbolical communication is omnipresent and shows very clearly how important some aspects of history still are for us today.

In this course we will discuss current events and attempts to change the monument and (re)naming culture, focussing on interviews with persons involved in these debates as well as on the analysis of contributions in media and discussions in internet.

Reading and analysis of research literature and sources; students’ own investigations; presentations and discussions.

Regular and active participation in the seminar, presentations, bachelor thesis.

Successful completion of obligatory modules 1,12 and 13

Proof of the successful completion of the second proseminar (compulsory module 12 or 13) ought to be produced until the end of October 2022
