Students will gain insight into the application of multi-method approaches to answer complex psychological problems. They will be familiar with the theoretical underpinnings and the current state of research on the relationship between (digital) communication and observers' inferences. They will be able to operationalize scientific questions and develop research designs independently.

The focus of the course lies on learning and applying methods to analyse communication techniques in the digital context and their impact on others' impressions. Methodological and statistical procedures will be presented and practically applied. Alternatives to the use of self-report as a means of gaining knowledge will be addressed, and a multi-method experimental research design will be developed.

Lecture, joint discussion, group work, presentations, written and oral contributions of the participants.

Assessment based on regular written and oral contributions of the participants, final paper.
