winter semester 2022/2023 | Last update: 18.01.2023 | Place course on memo listThe aim of this course is to enable young refugees with divers educational backgrounds to get in touch with students from Austria and other countries all over the world and foster the scientific and cultural exchange between them. The students will be asked to reflect upon their own perceptions of culture and multilingualism.
Including young refugees into the societies of the host countries is one of the major objectives of sucessful inclusion politics. In order to achieve it there we have to enable transfer of knowledge and exchange between those concerned and the gathering of positive shared experiences.
The main target group of the present project are young refugees from all over the world studying at university or other educational institutions who plan to build a new future in Austria or any other European country. Course participants will be prepared for the new challenges in this multilayered course:
* As an introduction there will be 4 introductory sessions on relevant aspects of intercultural communication such as stereotypes, multiligualism, acculturation, 3rd culture kids, hibridity etc.
* The participants of the present course will work together with participants of the regular ICC course with students from many European and non European countries on a chosen topic of intercultural relavance (groups 4-5 people).
The course envisages mainly classroom sessions and proximate learning since the aim of the course is to establish new ties and relationships between learners. However, in case of pandemic measures also a blended learning version of the course is prepared.

Will be decided in the course depending on the language proficiency of the students
