The course investigates the relationship between science and society. Accordingly, the aim of this course is to offer students theoretical insights about sociology of scientific knowledge, science and technology studies and science policy as well as practical knowledge about science communication: a) What distinguishes science from other areas of society? b) What interactions shape the relationship between science and the public sphere? How do science and politics interact (from governance to funding and policy advice)? d) How does science communicate with society (science communication)?
