winter semester 2022/2023 | Last update: 30.05.2022 | Place course on memo listThe participants learn to analyze academia from a decolonial queer, trans and feminist perspective and to assess the current historically accrued and geo-politically specific current conditions in research and teaching. They generate visions and strategies for their academic work in order to pursue social and transformative justice.
This seminar scrutinizes the nexus of academia and activism in the context of Gender Studies. We will analyze the current conditions researchers and lecturers encounter in institutions of higher education in the Global North from a perspective that takes gender, race/ethnicity, class/caste, indigeneity, sexuality, and dis_ability into in its intersectional complexities into account. The overarching purpose of the seminar is to understand this historically accrued and geo-politically specific current moment, to explore responsibilities and accountabilites of activist scholars based primarily in the Global North.
