Students understand the influence of atomic bonding and material structure on mechanical, physical and optical properties. Furthermore, students are able to apply the knowledge diffusion, phase diagrams and thermal actions on preparation and processing methods and claims.

Classification of materials, influence of atomic bonding and structure (crystalline, amorphous materials, dislocations, phase, microstructure, ...) on material properties, mechanisms of increasing strength, thermally-activated processes (diffusion, recovery, recrystallization, reaction kinetics), alloys (phase diagrams)

Course examination according to § 7, statute section on "study-law regulations".

Will be discussed in the first lesson.
