The students are going to become acquainted with basic questions and possible answers in the field of applied ethics.
Applied ethics deals with concrete ethical problems in different fields, such as medicine, media, science, etc. In this course, students will learn to develop ethically sound solutions to these problems.
Questions we will address include:
- What are the consequences of legalizing euthanasia?
- What new ethical challenges arise from scientific advances in reproductive medicine and genetics?
- What is the ethical status of non-human living beings?
Lecture with discussion.
Oral exam (15 min).
