Students will be able to determine the competent court and the applicable law in a case involving a foreign country and will know the principles according to which foreign decisions are recognised in Italy.

The lecture introduces private international law and deals with the questions: Which court has jurisdiction? Which law is applicable? Are decisions made by foreign courts recognised in Italy? The course thus covers both autonomous Italian and European private international law and civil procedure law.

Lectures with case discussions; 

Curriculum 2001: Private international law (without European and international civil procedural law) is part of the (written and oral) diploma examination from "Diritto civile italiano, compreso il diritto internazionale privato italiano".
Study plan 2018: The entire lecture content is the subject of written course examination at the end of the course.
