BA § 5 (1) 5.b European Integration - Introduction

Students acquire the ability to explain and describe the process of European integration and how the European Union works. They are able to analyse and independently answer the questions concerning the institutions, decision-making processes and policy fields in the political system of the EU and its member states.

The course provides a basic introduction to European integration. Firstly, we will deal with the history and theories of European integration. Secondly, we will look at the most important institutions of the European Union. Thirdly, we will conduct an EU simulation game. In each section we also address the question of the system- and policy-making function of individual actors.
