Competence of interpreting texts of contemporary literature

We will analyze and discuss the autobiographical writing of the Austrian author Thomas Bernhard (1931-1989) in detail, beginning with the volume Die Ursache. Eine Andeutung (1975) and ending with Ein Kind, describing his childhood.

The historical, biographical and theoretical contexts will be presented.
