Ability to process and critically reflect on the state of research in relation to a selected topic; competence in applying this knowledge to a concrete literary-scholarly question; proficiency in analysing texts and statements from various literary-scholarly perspectives; ability to write a coherent presentation of the results achieved in accordance with standards of literary scholarship within the framework of a seminar paper.

The course concentrates on literary estates, the methods of their organization, and on possibilities of source-centered literary scholarship.
Literary archives are treasure troves for historical and literary scholarship. The estates and manuscripts held there open new perspectives on literary history and cultural tradition. In literary archives, cultural heritage is scholarly evaluated as well as communicated to a scholarly and wider public. Together, we explore the questions: What is a “Nachlass” and what types of documents do we ideally find in it? How do we organize it professionally? Is literary and cultural tradition generating itself or is it produced, and if so, by whom?
We will ask ourselves these questions using the holdings around the Tiroler Volksschauspiele - contemporary and critical Volkstheater and all aspects of a cultural organisation will thus play a role.
