Ability to process and critically reflect on the state of research in relation to a selected topic; competence in the application of this knowledge to a concrete literary-scientific problem; proficiency in the analysis of texts and statements from various literary-scientific or linguistic perspectives; ability to write a coherent presentation of the results achieved in accordance with scientific standards within the framework of a seminar paper.

The 'Wigalois' of Wirnt von Grafenberg belongs to the so-called 'post-classical' Arthurian novels, which have long been marginalized and suspected of triviality by scholars because their heroes are perhaps a little too perfect and overcome challenges perhaps a little too effortlessly.
Compared to the 'classic' Arthurian novels, the hero's adversaries here take on increasingly fantastic traits, while the hero in turn upgrades with magical artifacts and Christian blessing formulas to keep up with the supernatural - and in the process is himself enhanced into the superhuman.
The 'Wigalois' in particular takes on features that can be described as computer game-like. The planned proseminar traces these parallels (among other things through secondary literature on both subject areas) and attempts in this way to find a new approach to the Middle High German primary text.
