The students have specialist knowledge in the field of Ancient History through examination of social relations and gender relations in antiquity with special consideration of current research trends and controversies. They are able to apply current theoretical approaches to ancient source material and to derive historical questions from it. They recognise the applicability and contextuality of the methods of analysis. The students have expanded their competence to write a scientific seminar paper.

In the seminar we deal with Ciceros Philippicae. Above all, we will focus on power and gender relations. For historical analysis we will pay attention to the Latin text.

Lecture, prensentations and discussion.

Presentation and paper.

Will be announced in course.
