In the course of the excursion to mining sites in North and South Tyrol, basic knowledge of Tyrolean mining history is to be demonstrated. The temporal horizon ranges from prehistory to the 20th century. In the Lower Inn Valley in North Tyrol, archaeological findings from the Stone Age to the Iron Age are explored. The extraction of the raw materials flint, copper and iron are the central fields of interest. In the second part of the excursion, the second phase of the Tyrolean mining boom in the Middle Ages and the early modern period up to the 20th century will be illuminated using South Tyrolean examples.
