Acquisition of skills for dealing with historic sources and studies critically, as well as the competence to present the newly-gained knowledge verbally and/or in writing; Acquisition of the competence to apply methods of auxiliary sciences.

Recording and analyzing selected events in Austrian history between 1700 and 1918 in contemporary newspapers of the time. Examination of the role of the press in this time period. Recognising historiographical questions, historical images and historical narratives.

Oral and or written preparation of selected source material individually or in teams.

Active participation (preparing sources and literature), discussion, minor written reports, oral and/or written presentation.

Will be announced in the lectures and accessible at OLAT.

Passing the exam of BW ÖG3 prior to this course is higly recommended.
