Students have a command of the topics dealt with in the courses and are able to contextualize and interpret the acquired factual knowledge. They are confident in recognizing of relationships and in structuring historic routines and processes.

The lecture gives an overview of the history of Tyrol from the end of World War I to the first post-war years, focusing on the decision-making practices and mechanisms that finally led to the cession of South Tyrol and the definition of the Brenner frontier at the Paris Peace Conference. On the other hand, the lecture focuses on the social, economic, mental and memory-cultural developments of this period of upheaval. The aim is to analyze the history of this regional epochal break in terms of comparative and interdependent history as well as in terms of modern regional historical issues. The consequences of the First World War and the Paris Peace for the historical Tyrolean region will be presented in a multi-perspective and international context.
