Successful participants of the module know the basic principles of effective scientific writing and can apply them to their theses. Participants have also understood how to effectively present scientific work and how to give constructive feedback.

Basic principles of scientific writing, differences between articles, posters, and theses and typical contents of those

Choosing the right presentation medium and effectively designing slides, posters and black board presentations

Body language and gestures for informative and convincing presentations

Basics of using LaTeX for thesis work and correct typesetting

Choosing how to present data in a clear and concise manner in graphs and diagrams


Students will complete short written homework assignments during the course and give a presentation on a scientific topic of their choice.

Grade will be based half on homework assignments + participation and half on presentation


Language of instruction: German, presentations in English are encouraged
