The participants gain insight into the ancient Greek literary history. They possess an in-depth knowledge of some of the most influential texts written in ancient Greek and are able to locate them within their original literary and cultural context.

Discussion of influential Greek texts (for example, Homer, “Odyssey”; Sophocles, “Antigone”; Herodotus, “Histories”), close reading of specific text passages in translation

Lectures hold by course instructor, reading and interpretation of relevant text passages 

final written exam

For attending the seminar, no prior knowledge in Greek literature or language is required.
