The "anthropogenic climate change" as the greatest challenge of the 21st century requires a deep engagement with the fundamental structures and practices of the "imperial way of life" (Brand) within capitalist societies. How is it possible that global greenhouse gas emissions continue to rise, contrary to our knowledge and political and civil engagement? What is the connection between this environmental and climate impact and the global exploitation of human and nature?
These and other questions will be explored in the lecture series. The focus will not be on an isolated examination of individual technologies, but on a holistic perspective on the social, economic, political, legal, technological, (neo-)colonial and patriarchal relations that constitute the "capitalist world system" (Wallerstein) of the present.
Lectures and discussions, inputs from different disciplines
