what types of labour agreements there are,
what kind of legal protection laws are adopted and which category of employees deserve special protection,
the significance of gender in the principle of equal treatment in the workplace,
how employment contracts are dissolved and which legal consequences it entails,
who represents the interests of the workforce at a given company,
who collectively bargains the working conditions of employees,
what different kinds of social security schemes there are in Austria.
The students know the most important European legal requirements and know how law is enforced within the Union.
The students are able to check their own contracts of employment for possible or impossible violations and are enabled to calculate the appropriate remuneration.
Practise-oriented insights into labour- and social law.
The lecture will provide an introduction and overview to the subject matter. Specific questions will be analyzed by course attendees, group work, discussions. Personal matters and questions of employment law may be gladly taken into consideration.
Regular and active participation in the course, in addition to constructive participation in discussions. Analysis and oral presentation of case studies or topic areas.
Students' individual selection according to the topics chosen.
