– Critical analysis of the design thinking approach

– Introduction into design research

– Study of design related theories from phenomenology and new materialism

– Practice of methods from design ethnography

In the context of the digital economy, so-called design thinking is being taught as the royal road to innovation. The course deals critically with this approach and reflects it from the perspective of up-to-date cultural and social research. Thereby the students learn both to define a design problem as a research question and to combine the two strategies: we will not only aim to scientifically consolidate design thinking, but also to creatively open up the research process.
