Learning Outcome:

In this course students will understand the basics of lightweight design using material behavior and geometry. The course has two parallel sections of prototyping (physical modeling) and simulating in digital environment. Through a series of small to large scale prototypes, students will learn how to design complex forms using simple rules and with knowledge-based techniques.

Contents:

This course is by the Lightweight structures Unit, intending to give students the knowledge of combining architectural design with structural efficiency in bending-active structures. Through a series of experiments in the physical and digital environments, students will learn the elastic behavior and its potential in generating form.

Assessment:

Course examination according to § 7, statute section on "study-law regulations".
