- Participants will understand the concept of FACTS and be able to identify its various components and explain their operation.
- Participants will be familiar with the benefits of FACTS such as increased power transmission capability, higher stability and reliability, and reduced losses.
- Participants will be familiar with the challenges of implementing FACTS such as high costs and specialized knowledge.
- Participants will be familiar with the latest developments in FACTS such as integration with renewable energy sources and the development of new, more efficient components.
- Participants will be able to recognize and evaluate the role of FACTS in the transition towards a sustainable energy supply.
This course focuses on the topic of Flexible AC-Systems (FACTS). Participants will learn about the concept of FACTS and how it improves the efficiency and reliability of the power system. The various components of FACTS, such as STATCOM, SVC, and VSC, will be presented and their operation explained.
Participants will also learn how FACTS is used in different areas of the power system, such as transmission and distribution. They will become familiar with the benefits of FACTS, such as improved power transmission capability, higher stability and reliability, and reduced losses. The challenges of implementing FACTS, such as high costs and specialized knowledge, will be discussed.
The latest developments in FACTS, such as integration with renewable energy sources and the development of new, more efficient components, will be presented. Finally, the role of FACTS in the transition towards a sustainable energy supply will be discussed.
The aim of this course is to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of FACTS and to enable them to recognize and evaluate the benefits and challenges of this technology.
