The students:

  • know different energy systems (including their central components) for heat and electricity supply,
  • understand the economic and technical basics of planning, design and operation of different energy supply systems,
  • can strategically combine different energy sources in order to find technically, ecologically and economically suitable solutions,
  • are able to model energy supply concepts based on individual energy demands,
  • know the challenges and limitations of modelling and simulation in the context of energy systems.
  • Basics of energy systems (e.g. solar thermal energy, geothermal energy, thermal storage, etc.) including their economic evaluation
  • Introduction to MATLAB / Simulink (scripts, functions, import / export of data, plotting of results, etc.)
  • Modelling and simulation of energy systems by utilising MATLAB / Simulink / CARNOT toolbox
