Overview of fields and methods of ethnomusicology and music anthropology
The course is to be understood as an intoduction in research principles and topics, questions and tasks of ethnomusicology and music anthropology. In addition to a description of the research objects of today's ethnomusicology and the presentation of the historical development of the discipline, the course is primarily dedicated to selected examples of non-European cultures and their music.
In the practice parts of the development processes, the students have to solve small work tasks in connection with literature research, to give a short presentation derived from this and to write a seminar paper.
A presentation and a seminar paper to be written on it are required for the degree.
