Acquaintance with classical topics and contemporary developments in epistemology and philosophy of science.

In this class, we will read and discuss texts at the intersection between epistemology and philosophy of science. We will discuss questions such as: what is the difference between understanding and the mere sense, or subjective feeling of understanding? What is ignorance? What is meta-ignorance? What is the role of ignorance in scientific progress and inquiry? What is the division of epistemic labour and why is it necessary? Is it always a bad thing to depend epistemically upon other agents for our knowledge and understanding?

Student presentation and discussion.

Will be discussed in the first lecture.
