Curr. 2021 § 5 (1) 13: Students acquire the ability to individually plan (research and study design, research hypotheses or heuristics, survey and evaluation procedure) and implement (data collection and evaluation as well as result presentation) an empirical sociological research project as well as to relate theory, methodology and empirical research.  

The module conveys skills and abilities to conduct a qualitative study, from the development of a proper research question to the practical application and the writing of a research report. Thematically, the lecture focuses on change and new forms of work and employment. In the winter semester, students are introduced thematically, theoretically and methodologically. The emphasis lies on formulating a research question and practising qualitative methods. In the summer semester, the students apply their acquired knowledge in small groups with practical guidance.   

Reading and practical exercises, presentations, group work 

In winter semester: Practical tasks, oral short presentation, writing of a research exposé 

In summer semester: oral presentation and discussion, as well as writing of a research report
