Training in philosophical problem awareness; Scientific working skills.
Introduction to philosophizing in oral and written form with special consideration of different understandings of and approaches to philosophy. We will follow Thomas Nagel's introduction to the core questions of philosophy in “What does it all mean?” And supplement these with references to representative texts from the history of philosophy, such as Plato (Politeia), Kant (What is Enlightenment?), La Mettrie (The Machine Mensch), or Wittgenstein (Tractatus logico-philosophicus). Methods of scientific work should also be taught.
