PS Standard Literature in the Educational and Social Sciences: Educational Theory

Students have basic knowledge of educational and social-scientific texts and are able to explore them hermeneutically. They learn to pose questions to the texts, to understand them on the basis of these questions, and to argue with them. They work with different types and genres of texts.
In the proseminar, basic texts on social sciences, especially on educational/formational theory (Bildung) will be read. Doing so, the development and constitution of the concept of education will be traced.
Textual work, discussions, and argumentation
- Active and regular participation
- Continuous reading of the given texts
- Presentation (kick-off speech)/moderation and essay
- Discussions and interpretations of the different texts
- paper (about 10 pages)
