winter semester 2023/2024 | Last update: 05.11.2023 | Place course on memo listAt the end of this course, the participants have gained a deeper insight into the genre of classical Greek historiography and in particular into the "Histories" of Herodotus of Halicarnassus as well as into modern narratology. They have expanded their translation and interpretation skills of ancient Greek literature and expanded the skills they acquired in compulsory module 1 in the field of academic work. They are able to interpret selected text passages on the basis of literary concepts and secondary literature and to present their results in the form of an oral presentation and a written essay in a coherent and precise manner.
Introduction to narratology, overview of classical Greek historiography, its contexts and development, joint reading and interpretation of the "Histories" of Herodotus of Halicarnassus from a narratological perspective.
