At the end of the course, the participants will have acquired deeper knowledge in the field of Attic tragedy. They have improved their translation skills. They are able to understand longer text units and to translate them into German. In addition, they  consolidated their knowledge of Greek grammar and developed suitable translation options for more complex grammatical structures. Through their translation practice, they have trained their ability to express themselves in German and expanded and consolidated their Greek vocabulary.

Introduction to Attic tragedy, its cultural and literary prerequisites and its development. Basic aspects of Greek theatre practice of the 5th century. Exemplary reading of the Euripidean "Helena" from linguistic, mythographic and literary perspectives.

Reading and discussing the text.
