On completion of this course students will be able to translate complex non-technical texts from English into German at a high level of accuracy and professionalism. They will be able to explain and justify choices made during the translation process.

We will translate a range of different advanced-level texts on a variety of subjects, focussing on source text analysis, transfer strategies, translation techniques, professional internet research, translator's choices and the use of parallel literature.

Weekly preparatory assignments; interactive approach.

Mid-term test and final test, homework, project work, active participation.

Handouts and translation assignments will be available via OLAT. Further materials and bibliographical references will be provided in class.

Successful completion of compulsory module 15.

Please bring a copy of your transcript of records with you to the first session.

If registrations are not evenly split across the two groups (a and b), students may be transferred to the other group (based on date and time of enrolment).

Before completing the entrance and orientation phase of studies (StEOP) students may not acquire more than 22 ECTS points overall.
