Acquisition of advanced knowledge of selected topics of epochs and scientific discussion thereof.

This lecture course analyzes the history of the Middle-East conflict through the prism of History of Emotions. We will look closely at feelings like fear, hate and wish for revenge as active components and vital forces in the history of this ethnic-religious conflict. Placing human emotions at the center of the discussion we will seek to better understand central events in the history of the State of Israel such as the war of 1948, the Six-Day War, the peace accords with Egypt and the first and second Intifada.

Lectures, reading and discussions

Students also will need to pass a final written exam to successfully complete the course.
