Students can prepare and present selected topics based on a literature review in the context of the phenomenon of biodiversity, species decline and climate change in Madagascar. Combined with practical experiences on-site, they can draw conclusions on the global effects of climate change and describe and explain complex interrelationships on the basis of habitats they visit themselves (tropical rainforest, thorn forest, tropical agricultural landscape, highlands, desert, rivers, etc.). Furthermore, they are able to present these interrelationships in an understandable and attractive way for laypersons (children and adolescents).
During the excursion, they work together with locals and test their learning in a school in Antananarivo. This is connected with the acquisition of intercultural competencies, which become observable while working with pupils of Malagasy cultures.

The combination of an exotic island with a varied landscape, unique fauna and flora is an unforgettable experience for every biologist/biology teacher or biologically interested person.
The participants of the excursion prepare a topic from the thematic complex of biodiversity, species decline and climate change in Madagascar, present it to their colleagues in a seminar and are the "experts" in this field during the excursion. They support their colleagues with your knowledge in the field and during the debriefings afterwards.
Together, the fascination of the fauna and flora of this island is explored in more detail and their endangerment and causes are observed and discussed.
In this context, various development and school projects are also visited and a project day is organised together in a school.

Seminar; presentation methods; talks with experts; visits; animal observations (day and night); talks with teachers on site; lesson planning and implementation in a school in Antananarivo.

Mode of examination: Presentation, lesson programme design, exhibition design.

will be announced.
