The primary aim of this course is to introduce students to fundamental research in the field of decision-making, focusing on the affective component of this complex behavior. At the end of the course, students should be familiar with the key theoretical principles in decision-making research, and be able to discuss current research papers that examine the neural bases of decision-making and the role of emotions in this process, understanding the main research methods used in this field.

Open Sesame: how to build your own experiment

Theoretical and practical lectures will be proposed, with practice exercises to improve critical discussions about the topics covered in class. During one lecture, students will get familiar with Open Sesame, which is an open-source and cross-platform software to create experiments.

Students will be asked to work in groups of 4-5 people to come up with a novel experiment, based on one or two of the themes of the lectures. Students should write a proposal for their own experiment and
