Knowledge of fundamental methods in structural dynamics and application-specific earthquake design approaches (response spectrum). Insight into the dynamic behavior of structures and proper choice of the appropriate method of analysis.

Discretization of structures for applications in structural dynamics. Time and frequency domain methods for linear single- and multi-degree-of-freedom oscillator. Force and support excitation. Structural damping. Earthquake induced response of linear structures. Response spectra. Modal analysis. Vibration isolation. Tuned mass damper.

Lectures in the classroom. Development and explanation of concepts and methods of structural dynamics. Application to problems in structural dynamics.

Homework assignment. Final oral examination
