winter semester 2023/2024 | Last update: 22.11.2023 | Place course on memo listThe mentors gain the expertise to guide freshers on their change from school to university studies and to help mastering daily challenges of student life and organizing the study itself.
- Introductory notes on: “responsibilities of the mentors during the fresher’s convention namely assistance during the guided tour for freshers on campus and support on course enrollment”, “Role perception and responsibility of the mentors”.
- Reflection of own difficulties as a freshman, lessons learned and recommendations for mentees.
- Sharing of experiences.
- Joint working meetings: Introductory block: serves to prepare students for their work as mentors and to clarify organizational issues 9/25/2023 (compulsory attendance).
- Introductory meeting for first-semester students 29.9.2023 in the afternoon (compulsory attendance).
- Mid-semester (date to be determined jointly): Exchange of experiences of the mentors
- End of semester (date to be determined jointly): Review and feedback
- Practical activities of the mentors during the semester: Support of the first-semester students in the context of group meetings.
- Participation and collaboration in the joint working meetings
- Designing and leading the meetings with the students
Only students of the second semester or above are admitted to this course.
On passing the final assessment, the mentors are awarded 2,5 ECTS credits as "844121 Social Competences 1" for module "Soft Skills 1" (for Bachelor Programme Civil and Enviromental Engineering according to the Curriculum 2007) respectively 2,5 ECTS credits for module "Elective Module: Non-subject-specific and Interdisciplinary Skills" (for Bachelor Programme Mechatronics according to the Curriculum 2011).
If "844121 Social Competences 1" should be passed during your regularly study, the present seminar cannot be nostrified at all.
