- Phenomena relevant to engineers can be correctly assigned to the corresponding physical laws.
- Selected physical phenomena can be described with the help of mathematical models.
- Mathematical models of selected physical phenomena can be used to calculate solutions for exemplary problems in the technical sciences.
- Methods and technical tools for researching knowledge and performing analytical/numerical calculations are known and can be used for simple exercises.
Selected chapters from classical physics, such as mechanics (velocity, acceleration, kinetic and potential energy), fundamentals of electrical engineering, ideal gas, and/or thermodynamics.
- Short presentation of the basics by the instructor including further literature and help (explanatory and instructional videos).
- handout of exemplary problems to be solved analytically, experimentally or numerically by students in groups. typical time needed outside the LV unit: approx. 30 minutes
- in the following unit: discussion and clarification of solution approaches to the problems in small groups or plenum
- Active participation in the solution of the assigned problems
- Presentation of the solution to a selected problem
- no written exam
Will be discussed in the first lesson.
Basic programming knowledge (e.g. in Python or Matlab) of advantage but not required, depending on the level of knowledge basic knowledge will be taught. The use of help from programming forums, explanatory videos or chatGPT is encouraged.
