Goal: B2+

At this level the learner can refer to and link to statements and inferences made by other speakers and in this way contribute to the development of conversations and discussions; he/she can use linking devices to connect his/her utterances into a clear, coherent text; he/she can discuss something systematically, highlighting crucial points in an appropriate way and giving supporting details.

Topics:

languages and language learning; extreme situations and experiences; travel, adventure and landscapes; consciousness and memories; fairness, crime and punishment


Linguistic Goals:

to express oneself in an inexact way; to discuss language learning; to express opinions; to write a web forum post; to talk about plans, intentions and arrangements; to give advice; to write a report; to paraphrase and summarise; to write a travel review; to participate in formal discussions; to write a profile article; to recall and speculate; to write an opinion essay; to listen to and discuss a variety of audio materials (interviews, monologues, news reports etc.) 

Structural Goals:

adverbs and adverbial phrases - various uses and positions in a sentence; the perfect aspect - simple tenses, continuous tenses, and unfinished states to talk about things that have happened or that continue happening at different points in time; comparisons - to describe differences between people, things and activities; superlative - to highlight something exceptional; intentions and arrangements - using will, going to, the present simple form and the future continuous form; inversion - to emphasise an event; future in the past - to use past tenses of future forms to say what plans, intentions, or predictions we had at a point in the past; narrative tenses - using various verb forms to tell stories; noun phrases - to combine information and to clearly express ideas in sentences; "have" and "get" - to create causative and passive structures; relative clauses - to distinguish between defining and non-defining clauses and to use relative pronouns; using a variety of verbs and phrases to express obligation, necessity and permission
