Learning Outcome:

Graduates of this module have acquired advanced knowledge in the numerical solution of ordinary and partial differential equations. They are familiar with advanced methods of time integration and know about the importance of geometric integrators. They are able to apply this knowledge to analyze and develop solutions to current problems related to the content covered.

Contents:

Fundamentals of geometric integration, symplectic methods, long-term integration, exponential integrators for parabolic and hyperbolic problems, splitting methods, methods for non-smooth data, and applications in science and engineering.

Methods:

Lectures and practical work.

Assessment:

Continuous assessment (based on contribution by participants) and final oral examination. Details will be discussed in the first lesson.
