Doctoral students further develop their research project in discussion with other doctoral students as well as with lecturers. They gain an overview of basic questions or different approaches in pastoral theology and acquire a basic competence for empirical work in theology, for the development of research questions and the application of individual qualitative-empirical methods.

Presentation and discussion of own pastoral theological research results as well as examination of basic questions and different approaches of pastoral theology.

For doctoral students who (want to) work empirically, there is the opportunity to get theoretical and practical support for their research project: by specifying the research question and a theoretical and practical introduction to especially qualitative research methods (interview forms, group discussion, participant observation, etc.). In addition to "technical" and research-related questions, ethical aspects will also be addressed. The main topics of the seminar will be determined together with the participants according to their concerns.

Presentation and discussion of research projects, inputs and discussion on various approaches to pastoral theology. Short presentations, conceptualization of project designs for research questions at hand, application of different (especially qualitative) methods of data collection and interpretation.
