On the last day of his life, Moses transmits his legacy to the people of Israel. He teaches what he has learned from God in the theophany at Mount Horeb (Sinai). The course introduces into the historical contexts of the book of Deuteronomy in the Neo-Assyrian, Neo-Babylonian and Persian perdiods, to the literary character of Deuteronomy and its core contents. It elucidates why this book became one of the central foundational texts for Judaism and Christianity.
