insight into the history and theology of ordination to the ecclesiastical offices from bishops to lectors and acolytes; awareness of the main problems of a theological foundation of the offices

Contents:

The development of a theology of ecclesiastical offices is one of the most urgent contemporary needs of theology. The course provides a historical-theological overview of the development of the appointment procedures (election and liturgical ordination) for the offices from the bishop to lectors and acolytes and, on this basis, a problem sketch for a future Roman Catholic theology of the offices somewhat off common concepts (such as the representation of Christ by the priest).

Methods:

lecture and discussion, study of sources and literature

Assessment:

two short presentations and a final written paper
