The students can understand church history from the specific perspective of the Christian missionary dynamic. They are able to assess the possibilities, the challenges, and the problems of evangelization/mission in church history and beyond.

This lecture introduces the students to the changing paradigms of Christian evangelization (early Christian individual mission, medieval mission by princes, mission in early modern European expansion, new concepts and practices of mission in modernity) and provides exemplary closer looks on specific historical developments.
