The students have dealt with major theories and they have gained in-depth insights into the backgrounds of crime as well as into the practice of criminal law and the penal system based on examples of empirical research. 

This seminar will discuss explanations of the causes of crime, social conditions relevant in this context and societal reactions on crime. The discussions are deepened and expanded through the inclusion of examples of applied, empirical research and the reference to criminal policy topics.
