710619 VU Electrochemistry with applications in energy research
summer semester 2024 | Last update: 04.12.2023 | Place course on memo listThe students acquire advanced knowledge abot the relations between
electronic and geometric structure of surfaces and the kinetics and dynamics
of surface reactions. They gain in-depth knowledge of energetically and
environmentally relevant surface and nanosciences and of heterogeneous
Catalysis (environmental catalysis, chemical energy storage and energy conversion, CO2-storage and use). Students apply elechtromchemical thermodynamics and kinetics with a focus on applications in energy research, e.g. in
Batteries, fuel cells and solar cells.
Experimental methods in more detail (e.g.
(ring) wafer electrode, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy),
Semiconductor electrochemistry (e.g., Mott-Schottky evaluation)
Electrocatalysis and Li-ion insertion and applications (e.g., in
Fuel cells or in Li-ion batteries)
lecture and exercise within
written (exercises)
