Successful participants of this course will have acquired profound knowledge on the ways of deriving scientific knowledge from observational studies, including the limitations, for example, with causal interpretation of effects.

Correlation studies, Mediation analysis and structural equation models, Propensity score matching, other matching procedures, Case-control studies, register studies, causal inference, statistical methods for binary data and event times, Markov processes for multistage events, diagnostic studies, historical controls, nonrandomized studies, Bayes-statistics, STROBE-guideline. 

Lecture and exercise sheets

The course is planned as in-classroom teaching, but individual lectures can be online (e.g., if COVID-19 incidence is high). I will also offer some possibility to follow the lecture online only (e.g., streaming, or alternatively, prerecorded slides + written summaries of the content).
