Students have an advanced knowledge of the fundamentals and basic concepts of biological regulation. Based on the understanding of physiological relationships they are able to capture and develop simple mathematical models of biological control processes in the body.

Introduction to the mathematical description of physiological systems, modelling, basic principles of biological regulation: basic terms, models and classification, exchange processes and their mathematical description, general system-analytic reflection of physiological regulatory circuits, sensors and receptors, examples: temperature regulation, regulation of the respiratory system, endocrine regulation, skeletal muscles,...

Continuous assessment (based on regular written and/or oral contribution by participants).

homeworkl and final oral examination
